I love to play!
I trained at the Purcell School of Music and the Royal College of Music, and I have been a professional cellist for over 20 years. As well as being a solo cellist, I do all sorts of different things like playing with orchestras, recording with bands, and performing with my theatrical string quartet Bowjangles. I love playing at all kinds of events from weddings, parties and corporate events, to christenings, Bar Mitzvahs, funerals and wakes. I mainly play acoustically, just me and my trusty Bluetooth battery speaker. I don't need any amplification but I can fill a room with sound!
I provide a sublime music backdrop; playing classical, pop, or perhaps a mix of both, to complement your event to perfection.
I am happy to blend in to the room , or take a more chatty and informal approach, depending on what is appropriate for each event.
How it works
No event is too big or too small- I've played at intimate dinner parties for 2, and to live audiences of 30,000. I can provide elegant classical music, or recognisable pop tunes with some film/tv and jazz standards mixed in. And best of all, I love learning new music so if you have a couple of pieces that are special to you then I can usually learn them for you :)
I'll arrive smartly dressed, on time and with everything I need for a smooth set up. I am very experienced in liaising with venue staff and finding the most appropriate spot to set up. I can play inside or outside (though not in hot sun, strong wind or rain!). I'm happy to dress to blend in to the background, but I also love to dress up so I can fit in with any theme you have planned!
I usually offer 1-2 hours of playing spread over a 2-3 hour period; this is totally flexible though and can be tailored to your event. As an example, this could be music for your wedding ceremony (your entrance, signing of the register and your exit), and then 45 minutes during your reception, or it could be three 40 minutes background sets of music over the course of your entire event. I will need breaks but these can be discussed and confirmed in advance and often can be coincided with things like speeches to make your event feel seamless. I can play on a stage, or just in a corner amongst your guests.
